GROWN DIAMONDS
Our lab grown diamonds are grown from the tiny carbon seeds of pre-existing diamonds. These lab grown diamonds are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced technological processes that duplicate the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust. These man- made diamonds consist of carbon atoms arranged in the characteristic diamond crystal structure. Since they are made of the same material as natural diamonds, they exhibit the exact same optical and chemical properties.
Lab-Grown Diamonds are visually, chemically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. These diamonds test exactly the same as mined diamonds as the process mimics the way that natural diamonds are formed geologically: by applying extreme pressure and temperature to a vacuum chamber containing carbon, this dissolves to form diamond ‘seeds’. Rather than taking a billion years, this process takes 4 weeks, after which the stones are ready to be cut and polished.
LAB GROWN DIAMOND
All lab-grown diamonds are treated the same as mined diamonds when it comes to the grading process. Once they are ready, they are sent to an independent gem lab to be certified by an expert. All of our diamonds are certificated by the leading independent laboratories and diamond graders, meaning that each stone is graded on the 4c’s; colour, cut, clarity and carat.
THE PROCESS FOR
The process for grading lab-grown diamonds is the same as traditional diamonds and focuses on the cut, clarity, carat, and colour of each gemstone. The cut is responsible for the brilliance of the diamond, and arguably the most important factor. Clarity refers to the appearance and lack of imperfections. When referencing clear diamonds, the lack of colour makes a higher grade. Finally, carat is the measure of the diamond's size and weight. Each diamond is examined carefully and assigned a quality grade.
The GIA, IGI, HRD and GCAL all issue reports for lab-grown diamonds. However, we restrict our supply to GIA and IGI certified lab-grown diamonds as we have more confidence with their reports. Each diamond comes with its certificate and is tested (laser inscribed) for your peace of mind.
